It
would be great to see our black youth, as well as other minority
youth, do a better job of taking care of themselves. Our state
of South Carolina ranks near the bottom of the 50 states on
many health indicators. Let me be straight up – too many
of our youth are involved in too much violent behavior, too
many are not graduating from high school, and too many live
a life style that contributes to poor health. To begin to change
the health of our state, we must encourage our youth to improve
their health.
To
our young folks, did you know that many of your peers will die
early, never become parents, or will never realize a life goal
because of poor health? So, stay in school and hang with folks
who have the same goals and aspirations that you have. Talk
to someone - your parents might be a good place to start. Remember
we need you, "'cause y'all are our future". I am Dr.
Thaddeus John Bell -- closing the gap in healthcare.
