Health
Care Heroes Recognition Award
Closing the Gap in Health Care, Inc. was a finalist in the Health
Care Heroes Recognition Awards sponsored by the Charleston Regional
Business Journal on November 29, 2007. We did not win the first
place Hero award, but we were indeed proud to be a finalist
in the Physician Category that included a range of outstanding
physicians. Congratulations to the winner Dr. Rob Stewart for
his noteworthy work in bone marrow research.
During the award ceremony as the biographical sketch of Closing
the Gap in Health Care, Inc. was presented, it occurred to me
that our mission may be unintentionally misunderstood. CGHC,
Inc. certainly doesn’t want to send a negative message.
While we do focus on diabetes, hypertension, HIV/AIDS, heart
disease, and other major illnesses, the goal of CGHC, Inc. is
to educate African Americans and other underserved populations
about health disparities and the positive steps we can take
to reduce those disparities.
We are very grateful and most honored that the Charleston Regional
Business Journal recognized Closing the Gap in Health Care,
Inc. as a Health Care Hero. We will continue to stay true to
our mission to educate people about the health disparities of
African Americans and the underserved populations.
I am Dr. Thaddeus John Bell--- Closing the Gap in Health Care.
