For Breast Cancer Survivors, Follow Up is a Must.
Breast cancer
is the most feared cancer among all women even though it is
not the most common cancer among women. In African American
women who develop breast cancer, the cancer itself is not the
most common cause of death. It is other illnesses that are the
most problematic. Diabetes, hypertension, and other conditions
must continue to be monitored. It is also very important for
breast cancer survivors to continue close follow up because
the chances of developing other cancers are significant. Gynecological
examinations are important and should be done as recommended
by your physician. Stay in touch with your body and report all
anomalies. Keep your appointments with your primary care physician,
as well as your cancer physician. It is also very important
for women to start and maintain a healthy life style and continue
it for the rest of life. Good food is a must. I am Dr. Thaddeus
John Bell closing the gap in healthcare.
